The Bean Blog // Quantum Coffee

Well this might be a first.  I guess I can call this live blogging since I’m currently sitting in Quantum Coffee as we speak.  It’s the Friday of Easter long weekend and I had some work (and blogging) to catch up on so I decided to head out and hit one of the many coffee shops on my list.

In December 2015 after being restored by the Konrad group, Quantum Coffee opened up at the corner of King and Spadina replacing the home where Global Village Backpackers hostel used to reside.

Quantum occupies a much bigger space then most traditional coffee houses and very minimal in terms of decor and furniture.  In fact, there isn’t a ton of seating unless you can score a spot by one of the windows.  There is however a much larger space towards the back filled with tables and chairs that I thought was owned by BrainStation (their neighbours) but apparently not.

Their menu offers your standard lot of caffeinated beverages although I recently saw a post about a “dirty chai latte” which I’m sad I didn’t try.  There’s also a large selection of teas and a glass case of delicious baked and sweet treats.

It’s usually jam packed in here, and I mean that because I have literally walked in and out because there was no free seats.  Because it was long weekend I scored a coveted window spot and was able to productively work for about 2 hours before the tourist swarms started invading.  The window seats are also great for people watching but be warned, you might make some awkward eye contact with people walking down the street.

So based on my rating scale I would give Quantum ☕️☕️☕️ – totally doable.  Sit, get some significant work done, find lunch. Which is exactly what I did.
